Zuppinger outscores Dr. Cue

This SAC sponsored event proved to be very exciting for Eric Zuppinger. Yet, until he entered, he knew nothing about it. On Aug. 28 and 29, Tim “Dr. Cue” Rossman, a professional pool player, arrived in Martin to strut his stuff. However, his last opponent, an avid pool player of 12 years, proved to be his toughest match.

Eric Zuppinger, a freshman Sociology major and student worker in University Relations from Finger TN, was the last contestant of 31 to enter the contest.

According to Zuppinger, the contest consisted of two games each of eight and nine ball, which were scored using points rather than standard pool rules. In these games, the best scorers from the first round moved to the second round. The player with the most overall points at the end of the game wins.

Zuppinger outscored Dr. Cue two-to-four, with best overall points in games of eight and nine ball.

“However, I was unable to outscore him in 8-ball.”, said Zuppinger, “But I did win both games of 9-ball in order to defeat Dr. Cue”.

While other contestants receive an autographed picture, Zuppinger won a technical pool manual written and autographed by Dr. Cue.
