ZTA hosts walk for the cure

Zeta Tau Alpha recently raised approximately $1500 for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation during their annual Walk for the Cure. The sisters, along with friends, family and members of the community gathered at the University Center and walked to downtown Martin to raise breast cancer awareness.

Sylvia Heer, mother of ZTA Jennifer Heer, and Britney Smith spoke of their experiences with the disease. Three UTM students donated at least ten inches of hair to Locks for Love, an organization that makes wigs for cancer patients. Styles on Broadway volunteered their services for this event.

“As service chair for Zeta Tau Alpha, I feel as if the event was a success again this year,” said Jennifer Heer. “We really appreciate the support from the campus and the community.”

Following the walk, ZTA’s and parents gathered at the Elam Center for BBQ and fun at ZTA’s annual Parents’ Day lunch.

The day concluded with the ZTA’s Founder’s Day ceremony. Seniors and new members were recognized and several awards were given to outstanding members.
