Where are you going for Fall Break?

Fall break is just around the corner, and many UTM students will start packing their suitcases and dreaming about their destinations. Some students are going to travel to their hometown.

However some will travel to places outside of their home. These places include national parks, beaches, and other locations with more options for activity than what is available in their college or home town.

Fall break is Oct. 17-18. That is not enough time for a long trip, but a short break is better than no break at all. Fall break is a time to get away from the drudgery of classes and monotonous routines.

So in order to make the most of the break, one should make plans.

“There are several three night cruises that range in price from $600 to $700 per person,” said Lisa Plunk, a travel consultant. Gatlinburg, Tennessee is another option. It is located 218 miles east of Nashville. Nestled in the Great Smoky Mountains, Gatlinburg offers quite a unique vacation experience.

If you are looking for a nice, relaxing spot, then this is it. Most everything from restaurants to shops to recreational activities is located within a short walking distance.

“If you are looking for the beach, the Emerald Coast of Florida is a great place to go,” said Plunk.

The Emerald Coast is a beautiful stretch of beach from Panama City to Pensacola, Florida.

The beaches are characterized by sugar white sand and crystal clear water. There, one will find a variety of activities such as golfing, fishing, scuba diving, shopping, dining, and nightlife.

Whatever UTM students decide to do during their break, they must remember to be safe and have a great vacation!
