UTM’S Bullock named player of the week


UTM's Earl Bullock, a 6-1, 190-pound junior guard, was named the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week for his effort this past week against Austin Peay and Murray State. Bullock, a junior college transfer from Lineville, Ala., led the Skyhawks in scoring in both games. He knocked down 21 points against Austin Peay and chipped in 15 first-half points against Murray State. Bullock finished the Murray State game with 18 points. Bullock hit five-of-10 threes against Murray State and he was four-of-11 from three-point range against Austin Peay. He also was perfect from the free throw line in both games. He hit three free throws in each game. Bullock is currently 13th in the nation for three-point field goals made per game. He is averaging 3.4 threes per game. Bullock's honor marks the third time this season a Skyhawk has been named Newcomer of the Week. J.C. Howe earned the honor for the week of Dec. 16, while Bullock claimed the honor for the week of Dec. 23. The Ohio Valley Conference honors are named every Monday by the league office in Brentwood. Bullock and the Skyhawks return to action Thursday, Feb. 6 at Tennessee State University. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. in TSU's Gentry Center.
