UTM to take on SEMO

Hawks visit Otahkians

UTM Skyhawks will match up against team with similiar record on Thursday when they take on the SEMO Otahkians in Cape Girardeau, Mo., on Thursday Feb 5 at 5 p.m. at the Show Me Center.

The Otahkians are a pressure defensive team. The teams that have beaten them are teams that have beaten their defensive pressure. The Otahkians have 8 returning players that saw action in games last year. They are a well-rounded team that plays an inside outside game.

The Otahkians are led by they’re senior point guard Kenja White who scored a game high 18 points and had six steals in the Otahkians previous game against Samford. The Tennessee-Martin SkyHawks should match up well with the Otahkians because the SkyHawks also have a senior leader in Jill Young who is the SkyHawks leading scorer.

There is also Freshman Andriek Jackson who makes a huge impact on the offensive and defensive boards. With shooting guards Torre Thomas, Danielle Page, and Tiffany Brundige the Othakians will have to respect the SkyHawks outside threat. The SkyHawks will be running a 2-post 3-guard out scheme so they will have to take care of the ball, box out, and keep the Otahkians from getting second chance shots. The SkyHawks shooting guard Tiffany Brundige, “says if the SkyHawks do it on defense their offense will come.”

The two teams will be playing for fifth place respectively in the OVC standings. Game time starts tonight at 5:00 pm at the Southeast Missouri Show Me Center.
