After a two-game road trip to Southeast Missouri State and Eastern Illinois, the University of Tennessee at Martin men’s and women’s basketball teams return home to the friendly confines of the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center and Skyhawk Arena.

The Skyhawks will host Morehead State in a doubleheader Saturday. The women’s game begins at 4 p.m., while the men’s game is set for 6 p.m. The conference games will be sponsored by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Union City.

Saturday’s doubleheader is little league baseball and softball night. Area youth that wear their baseball or softball uniform shirts will be admitted to the games free. Free UT Martin softball and baseball camp registration fees will be given away.

UT Martin’s softball team will host numerous activities throughout the game as well as sign autographs for fans. Plenty of activities are scheduled throughout the basketball doubleheader. Dribbling teams from Lakewood and Henry schools in Henry County will perform during halftime of the women’s game. UTM volleyball team will be recognized at halftime of the men’s basketball game.

The Skyhawk volleyball team won the Ohio Valley Conference regular season championship for the second consecutive year. The team also won the OVC tournament and advanced to the NCAA tournament where they lost to the University of Nebraska. Tickets for the basketball doubleheader will be on sale at the door.

The Skyhawk men’s basketball team sports a 3-2 OVC record and will battle Morehead State, who was undefeated in the OVC going into Thursday’s (tonight’s) game at Murray State.

The Skyhawk women are 2-3 in the OVC. Senior Amy Watson needs one point to become the eighth player in Tennessee-Martin to score 1,000 career points.
