UTM shows innovations at 2003 showcase; free admissions, demonstrations, door prizes

UTM will host the 2003 Technology Showcase from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, in the UC.

The showcase is an exhibit of how the UT Martin campus uses technology to enhance learning for students and provide service to faculty, staff and students. UTM faculty will demonstrate the innovative and creative ways they use technology inside and outside the classroom.

The event is free and open to the public.

“UT Martin is on the cutting edge of learning in higher education, and what we are doing on campus in some ways is revolutionizing the whole college experience. This showcase will give everyone a chance to see that,” said Steve Holt, manager of the UTM Instructional Technology Center (ITC). Partners of the showcase include Dell, Gateway, Apple, Howard Computers and the UTM ITC.

There will also be opportunities to win products from Palm, Handspring, Logitech, Epson and many others.

Products that will be given away will include small computer accessories, printers, scanners, and a handheld PDA such as a Palm Pilot.

“Last year's showcase was a big success,” Holt said. “We estimated over 1,500 visitors last year, and we fully expect to exceed that this year.”
