UTM remembers 9-11


It has been a year since the World Trade Centers and the Pentagon was attacked on Sept. 11.

UTM honored and remembers the event by holding the “Tribute to America” event at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 11 on the north plaza of the UC.

Faculty, students and the community attended the event in large numbers.

The event was opened with by the UTM ROTC Color Guard.

Afterwards, Rev. Alvin Summers and the Collegiate choir gave tribute as the song America the Beautiful. Dr. Katie High, vice chancellor of Student Affairs, opened the event with encouraging words as she read letters sent by President George W. Bush and others.

Several students expressed their feelings about the tragedy.

“I appreciate a campus the cares by remembering such a tragedy by such a beautiful ceremony,” said , Heather Nicholson, a senior Communications major from Milan.
