Dr. Carl Jay Buchanan, 46, of Union City died March 29, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.

Services were set for 11 a.m. Monday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Leggett officiating.

He was born July 3, 1956, in Wichita, Kan., son of the late Daisy Mae Honnecut. He was married to Kristine (Veenstra) Buchanan April 7, 1996.

He was a professor of English at the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Survivors also include his daughter, Miranda Buchanan of Union City his son, Carl Buchanan of Indianapolis; and two sisters.
