U.S. Rep. Tanner meets with Amelia Earhart award winner

U.S. Rep. John Tanner met this week with Civil Air Patrol Cadet Jaclyn Cook, who has earned the prestigious Amelia Earhart Award from the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol. Cook was also promoted to Cadet captain in the Fulton County Composite Squadron.

Cook, a 2001 graduate of South Fulton High School, is currently a history major at UT Martin.

She has been a CAP cadet since 1998 and has applied for membership in the International Air Cadet Exchange program, which would allow her to spend three weeks in a foreign country.

“I am very proud of all the hard work that Jaclyn has put into her Cadet work over the past several years,” Congressman Tanner said. “Jaclyn is a prime example of the excellent young leaders who are proud to serve their country.”

Cook’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. David Cook of South Fulton.

Tanner represents Tennessee’s 8th Congressional district and is himself a member of Civil Air Patrol, assigned to the Congressional Squadron based in Washington, D.C.
