University Museum reopens in Library

The UTM's University Museum will reopen in its new space in the Paul Meek Library's Corbitt Special Collections Area on Monday, Sept. 23.

The museum was formerly housed in the Holland McCombs Building on campus.

The museum's premier exhibit will feature enlarged photographic prints of UT Martin student life and activities, dating from the campus's early history.

The photos are taken from the holdings of the University Archives.

From Sept. 25-Oct. 30, the museum will present a collection of color prints by Richard Westmacott titled "African-American Gardens and Yards in the Rural South."

This exhibition is one of the visual activities scheduled in conjunction with the campus's 10th annual Festival of Southern Cultures, set for Sept. 28-Oct. 4.

The museum gallery is open to the public weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission is free.
