Two more football players suspended

UTM head football coach Matt Griffin has suspended defensive end Andre Plummer and linebacker Lucas Ingram for one week of spring football practice because of a violation of team rules.

Skyhawk head football coach Matt Griffin said the two players were suspended because they were not attending classes. "Our players need to understand that they will attend class or they will not play football at UTM."

Plummer is a 6-3, 240-pound, defensive end from Memphis. As a freshman, Plummer was sixth on the team with 49 tackles. He made 27 solo tackles, six tackles for losses and he had three quarterback sacks and two fumble recoveries.

Ingram, a 6-0, 195-pound, linebacker from Union City, was tied with Plummer for most tackles with 49. Ingram had 29 solo tackles, three tackles for losses, two sacks and one interception with a 20-yard return.

The Skyhawks opened spring practice Monday, March 31 and have 29 days to get in the NCAA-mandated 15 practice opportunities, three of which must be in shorts. The Skyhawks will scrimmage at 9 a.m., Saturday, April 12.
