Travel and tourism department offers knowledge for those planning to travel

The Travel and Tourism program at The University of Tennessee at Martin was formed in 1988 and it is the seventh program in the nation in the discipline of Geography. The courses that make up this program are taught by Professor Helmut Wenz, who has been a member of the faculty at UTM since 1968. The study of Travel and Tourism explores the many aspects of the tourism industry and it provides information for you and the consumer. It is very important for a person to be knowledgeable in this area if they plan on doing any kind of traveling at all. Take it from Clark W. Griswold, everyone should consider the facts before planning the next good old fashioned family outing. Every year, Professor Wenz schedules out of town trips for the students within the department. In the past, he and his students have taken several educational study trips to places such as Belize, Europe and Mexico. For next semester’s spring break, Professor Wenz is planning on taking an upper division study trip to California to visit Napa Valley and to explore the wine country of that region. The trip is open for anyone who is interested in attending and the cost will be approximately $1000 including everything except the price of food. Professor Wenz and his class plan to be gone for 11 days so be sure to pack heavily. Not only will this trip be educational, but it will be one that you will never forget. I encourage everyone who can to attend. This will be a trip of a lifetime for a college student especially after you consider the cost. The opportunity to travel to California for $1000 may never to rise again so you better take advantage now. For more details concerning the trip, you can contact Professor Helmut Wenz. He will be glad to answer any questions that you may have.
