Tired of the same old thing? Speak up!

It is now past midnight right now and I am still here in the Pacer Office.

As a favor to my best friend, I am forced to write an opinion to fill space for her section.

If you have not noticed by now, the Pacer is a newspaper for the students, by the students.

So, if you are complaining about the content of our paper, then it is mainly your fault.

We have gotten rude comments about the new feature in Opinions, “Ask Advice Girl.”

If you think it is stupid, then submit more opinions to the Pacer so we have enough stuff to fill our pages.

You all know that it is a horror just staying up late working on homework.

What about the 15 of us on the Pacer staff?

We are all stuck here until the wee hours of the morning trying to finish the paper so you all can read it on Fridays.

After we finish the Pacer, most of us go home and do homework, that or we fall straight to sleep and miss most of our morning classes.

Many professors can vouch for that – I’ve missed one too many 8 a.m. classes because I am sitting here trying to fill space.

These past two weeks have been murder.

Last week was Panhellenic Rush and then this week is IFC Rush.

About nine of the 15 members on staff are Greek.

Yes, I know… we all have responsibilities to our jobs.

Just one thing – do not complain about the content of the newspaper unless you come to staff meetings at 5 p.m. on Thursdays in 316 Gooch.

We want to know what the students want to see and read in the newspaper.

Last semester when I was doing distribution, it was sad to deliver the new papers and see all the ones from last week still there.

My freshman year of college, we had a circulation of 5000. Now because of lack of interest, we have a circulation of 3000.

If you thought that this opinion was boring, then do not blame me for it.

I know that on a campus of about 5900 students, that surely 10% of you have comments on something.

This is your paper and a way for you to vent about anything that is bothering you.

Broke up with your girlfriend or boyfriend and now you hate that gender?

Tell us why! Hate the parking on this campus, want more entertainment for students? Write to us and tell us.

The Pacer is not read just by students, but a lot of UTM faculty and staff members pick up the paper to get a feel about what students are wanting and thinking.

It is now late and I have Biology in the morning at 11am. I’m sorry if I miss class on Friday, Dr. Ray.

I was up very late working on the Pacer.

I know it is not an excuse, but just warning you now.

Tomorrow, or should I say later today, will be a very good day. Pacer will be finished, the last day of classes and the last day of IFC Recruitment Week.

Nine more issues of the Pacer left, so if anyone wants to write any articles or opinions, don’t forget that staff meetings are every week at 5 p.m. on Thursdays in 316 Gooch.

Any questions, call the Pacer Office at 7780.

If you want to b*tch to me personally, email me at pacer_features@mars.utm.edu and I’ll get back to you one and all.

This I promise you, you give me the time and I will do the same for you.

Now I am going to go back to my apartment and sleep.

Or at least try to sleep.
