Third annual 'Entrepreneur Day' features local broadcaster

UTM graduate Paul Tinkle worked his way up in broadcasting to become the owner of the broadcasting station where he worked in as a young adult. Tinkle will speak on "Starting and Running a Successful Radio Station" during the third Entrepreneur Day, Feb. 20, on the campus of UTM.

Tinkle is one of three successful entrepreneurs featured during the morning event, hosted by UTM's Oldham Center for Entrepreneurship and the Hendrix Chair of Excellence in Free Enterprise. Entrepreneur Day is presented by the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) organization and is designed to expose students in the College of Business and Public Affairs to the possibility of becoming successful entrepreneurs. The speakers will discuss both successes and mistakes they've made.

Tinkle will be joined by UTM professor, Dr. Michael Boyd, who began his own decorating and home construction business in a rural community. Boyd will talk about "Experiences and Pitfalls." Dr. Steve Jackson, a UTM associate professor of accounting, who started a restaurant at age 20 in Missouri and a CPA practice in 1979, will explain "How To Fail and Succeed in Business Without Even Trying."

Entrepreneur Day activities are free and open to the public. To register or for more information, contact Dr. Jackson, holder of the Hendrix Chair of Excellence in Free Enterprise, at 731-587-7228.
