The winter blahs

I don’t know about you all, but I’m getting tired of this winter thing.

Sure, it was great not having class because of snow a couple of weeks ago.

I won’t lie. I thoroughly enjoyed the time off, but let’s face facts here.

Winter in Tennessee just isn’t any fun.

First of all, snow very rarely happens. When it does happen, it doesn’t stay long.

Most days during our winter season are overcast and frigid. I don’t know if this is a proven statistic, but it definitley seems to be true.

For most people, excluding those who love winter, going outdoors is like pulling teeth.

My roommate summed it up best when she said: “It’s so cold outside. It literally hurts to go to class.”

Of course, she was talking about that round of weather we had last week.

I’m sure you remember because it was only ten degrees outside.

Personally, I agree with her 100 percent.

Secondly, everyone gets at least one cold per winter season. There again, this is not a proven statistic, but I’m sure it is applicable to most of us. Having a cold in the winter is messy and embarrassing.

Picture this: You are walking to class, freezing to death in the ten degree weather I mentioned earlier, and your nose is running like a leaky faucet.

Once you get to class, the snot has frozen to your upper lip. I wish I was kidding about this, but it actually happened to me during that week.

It may seem funny now, but then it hurt. I thought I was going to get frost bite and lose part of my face.

And, lastly, this weather is just down right depressing. I often find myself dreaming of springtime, and wondering how much longer I have to put up with this cold stuff.

I hate going outside because all the trees seem dead, all the grass is dead and everything seems gloomy. It’s just not a happy time.

So, hurry up spring and grace us with your presence.

Until then, stay warm everyone.
