The Pacer makes tough choices, removes color

Just in case some of you are wondering why our photos and graphics on the cover are in black and white and why our nifty colored bullets on the left side of the page are a shade of gray and why our usual blue line at the bottom of the page is another shade of gray, please e-mail phil.bredesen@state.tn.us and ask him. Be sure to write me too because I would like to know as well.

Apparently when funding gets a little tight the government does not look too far into the future. Apparently taking away what little the generation that will make their nursing home decisions has is OK.

I have some very different political views. On some things I am very conservative and on others I am very liberal. I am a fiscal conservative, but it blows my mind when people think that taking money away from education is a good idea.

If you look to the left of this column you will see a story giving an overview of the budget cuts coming to UTM.

In the next few weeks we will be running a series to let you know what you cannot expect to see next fall.

This is preposterous. I honestly cannot believe that there are people out there, especially our lawmakers, who think that taking money away from higher education under any circumstance is a good thing.

I charge all of you UTM students to get out there and get involved. Call your legislators and let them know that you will not stand for this.
