Tell a veteran thank you for everything

Monday was Veteran’s Day, and I know this issue will be a bit late for any commemorrating, but I believe it is never too late to tell people, especially veterans, how much we appreciate them. My father, two uncles and grandfather have all gone and fought on distant battlefields in order to ensure that I might be free to live as I so wish. Too often I forget what they fought for, what their friends died for and what is now being tested again today. We cannot forget; life is too short. It may even come to pass that someday you will be called upon to fight for the freedoms we enjoy so freely today. Wouldn’t you want to be remembered? So even though Veteran’s Day is now past, if you know a veteran, say thank you. They will appreciate it more than you may realize. “He was just a common soldier, and his ranks are growing thin, But his presence should remind us we may need his kind again. If we cannot do him honor while he’s here to hear the praise, Then at least let’s give him homage at the ending of his days. Perhaps just simply a headline in the paper that might say: ‘Our Country is in Mourning; A Soldier Died Today.’”
