Submit, submit, submit-Need I say more?

It’s been one of those nights.

Everything was going great Thursday night in the Pacer office. The sarcasm was flying, pages were almost finished, people were getting ready to leave and then the unthinkable happened-most of the files go corrupt and we lose half of our pages just before midnight.

To make a long story short, we got our pages back and restored them the best we could and the night ended much later than many of us were expecting.

The best way to sum up the night is a quote from Emily Vick, Features Editor, “It’s been a night-let’s NEVER do it again!”

But I digress ... moving right along.

There are a variety of topics on which I could write but at 4 a.m. Friday, it is hard to think of any. The only thought on my mind is how in the world I am going to make it to my first class at 10 a.m. Once finished, I am hoping to at least get two hours of sleep before dragging myself to Spanish 122.

With a population of over 5,000 students, I would like to expect that I would get at least 15 opinions from students each week on a plethora of topics. It’s not like we plan a list of topics each week because, even though we are a newspaper, we do not know of everything that occurs on the UTM campus.

All topics must be relevant. While we do like to know what is on the minds of our readers, we do not print opinions that stir up, well, you know.

If you have any questions, feel free to submit it and see what happens. The worst thing that could happen is that it doesn’t get run. But the upside is that your submission could land your thoughts right here in The Pacer. You never know until you try, so start submitting!

Even though I don’t get as many opinions as I would like to get sometimes, life is still grand. Buckle your seat belts because I’m moving on to another topic.

As a senior, one thing that I miss most is working two jobs. I worked at two jobs for two years until my work-study ran out just before my fourth year of college. I was saddened to have to tell my boss that I would no longer be working for him and that he would have to find someone to replace me (if possible ... hehe).

It’s been about six months since I worked Sports Information and I still miss working there. The work was frustrating sometimes but no one could ask for a better work environment and such wonderful co-workers.

Once again, moving right along and moving away from the sappiness ... contrary to popular belief, The Pacer wants to hear from more than Communications majors.

Most Communications majors are required to have at least 10 published articles before they graduate, depending on the chosen sequence. As much as this paper loves that fact, we would like to hear more from the rest of the campus as to what is on your minds.

Just because something is happening in Fine Arts or the Elam Center doesn’t mean we know about it. If there something bugging you that occurred away from Gooch Hall, please write about it and inform what is going on.

Chances are it isn’t going to come to light if someone doesn’t take action and decide to write about it.

Just to make it clear-it doesn’t matter if it’s a news, sports, feature or opinion that you want to write, just as long as you write and share what is happening (or what will happen, you can write about that too) on the UTM campus.

To submit is easy. You can e-mail it directly to me at pacer_opinions@mars.utm.edu or send it via the web at http://pacer.utm.edu/write/.

That’s it for me! Happy reading and get to writing!
