Students present opera theatre

The Harriet Fulton Theatre was host to A Work in Progress, Scenes from Opera: Featuring the Lyric Opera Theatre on April 4th and 5th.

Friends, families, and students gathered to watch the operas of Henry Purcell, Arthur Sullivan, Kurt Weill and Marc Blitzsein come to life.

There were storylines for all audiences including that of a drunken poet, a sailor in love, three little school girls and many more.

Students of the opera class have been rehearsing since the beginning of the semester under the direction of Dr. Margaret Olsen.

When asked about the long rehearsal period, Becky Latimer “Peep-Bo” said, “It was hard work, but we had a lot of fun putting it all together. It was really amazing to work with such talented people.”

The theatre has several more performances coming up in April such as the Wind Ensemble, Mozart’s Requiem, the Jazz Ensemble and many others. After the outstanding performance by this group, I would encourage everyone to try and attend them.
