Students needed to fill spots in two UTM choirs

Dr. Fred Spano of the Department of Music is announcing that there are openings for singers in New Pacer Singers and the Women’s Choir.

New Pacers is an auditioned, select chamber choral group. Often times, New Pacer Singers is called upon to perform at university functions and area high schools, as well as performing their own concerts.

The organization provides scholarships for its members based on the enrollment of the group.

For the Spring 2003 semester openings in male vocal parts are anticipated. Any major may audition.

The Women’s Choir is a non-auditioned “y’all come and sing” organization for any woman in the UTM community.

Majors other than music have included nursing, communications, and business.

No experience is necessary; only a desire to sing is needed. Female students, professors, support staff, mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, etc. are all invited to sing in the newest ensemble at UTM.

If you are interested in hearing more about these opportunities, feel free to call Dr. Spano in the Department of Music at 7409, or email fspano@utm.edu.

Do not forget that there are other organizations that singers can join, too: University Singers and Choral Society, both conducted by Dr. Kevin Lambert, as well as the Gospel Choir (Collegiate Choir) conducted by Professor Alvin Summers.

For more information about any of the choirs, please call 587- 7402.
