Student’s incident with ticket writer nothing more than word against word

This letter is in response to the front-page article with picture entitled “Angry student threatens ticket writer after violation” (April 2).

After witnessing this incident, I seemed to have missed a few of the details printed in the Pacer last week.

I understand that the article was taken from a police report, but I did not understand that Dustin Brann had gotten arrested. There were comments made that day by both sides.

I did in fact hear the ticket writer make a comment that was almost identical to the one Brann is quoted as saying, but nothing was said about that.

I am not here to justify or defend actions of that day. I do feel like the article was a little one-sided. This did not come as a big shock, but I feel the need to respond.

Any time an argument is “your word against their word,” it is hard to prove who is really telling ALL of the truth.

Just for the record, Brann is a senior with a respectable 3.57 GPA.

He has been active on this campus for the past four years with Greek life, UAC, athletics and Order of Omega.

He loves God, his family and sticking up for what he believes is right.

These are things that even a front-page article in the school newspaper charging him with assault cannot and will not destroy.

Thanks for everybody’s support through this whole incident.
