Student Health has new face

If you been to Student Health in the past few days, you may have noticed an unfamiliar face – the office has a new nurse practitioner, Suzette Renfrow (nee Hunter), NP.

Renfrow graduated from Vanderbilt University with a master’s degree in Nursing in 1990. She is originally from Lexington, but she grew up primarily in Nashville. “I am very excited to be working with and helping the students at UTM,” Renfrow said.

Student Health Services is designed to provide students with continuous health care throughout their enrollment. By helping students maintain a state of good health, Student Health hopes to promote their intellectual and social development.

“Since we have a higher percentage of female patients, it is a great asset to have Suzette with us,” said Shannon Deal, director of Student Health Services. “Suzette is a mother of four, one of whom is in college, so she is very familiar with what it means to be a college student and will be able to empathize with the problems they face.”

Student Health Services is located at the southeast corner of campus between Cooper Hall and Austin Peay Hall on the corner of Lee and Jeffress streets. You can contact the office at 587-7750.

The office is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday during which time a nurse is on duty. Renfrow will be available to see patients from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the week.
