Softball camp date set

The UTM women’s softball program announced that their second annual fastpitch softball camp will be held June 2-5 at Bettye Giles Field on campus. Any player, age 6 through graduating high school senior, is eligible to attend the camp. Campers will be grouped by age and ability.

The camp will feature a regular instructional phase beginning at 9 a.m. and running to 12 p.m. each day. All phases of the fastpitch game instruction will be provided by UTM head softball coach Donley Canary, assistant coach Allison Stewart and current UTM players.

Cost of attending the regular day camp is $60, which includes camp T-shirt and insurance.

For more advanced players or players wanting to further their knowledge in hitting or pitching, an advanced session of either hitting or pitching will be taught each day from 2 to 4 p.m. by Canary and Stewart. Cost of attending either of these two sessions is $75 per person. This also includes a camp T-shirt and insurance.

A camper may attend both sessions of the camp for a full day price of $120. Monitoring of campers during the lunch hour will be provided by UT Martin softball. Full-day campers will be expected to bring a sack lunch each day.

Registration is limited. To register by phone, call the UTM Skyhawk softball office at (731) 587-7162 or come by the UTM Athletics office in the Elam Center, Room 1022. Drop in registration can be done the morning of June 2, beginning at 8:15 a.m., if space is available.
