Skyhawks may host tournament

With a 13-1 Ohio Valley Conference record, Tennessee-Martin must win one of two remaining conference games to host the postseason volleyball tournament.

Going into the final week of the season, the possibility of a three-way tie and co-champions still exists. Morehead State and Southeast Missouri have three losses each. Morehead State hosted Eastern Kentucky Tuesday night.

Southeast Missouri closes out its conference slate with matches against Austin Peay, Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech.

The Skyhawks travel to Nashville to play Tennessee State Tuesday, Nov. 12 and close out the regular season at home Nov. 15 against Tennessee Tech.

The top six teams in the conference advance to the postseason tournament hosted by the regular season conference champion.

UTM hosted the tournament last year. The Skyhawks dispatched Southeast Missouri State in three games on the first day of the tournament. Day two proved to be a little more challenging.

The number two seed Eastern Illinois took the tournament championship in a “five game slugfest.” The Skyhawks hope their hosting jinx will not resurface this year.
