UTM sophomore Megan Dempsey has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Soccer Player of the Week.

Dempsey, a 5-7, goalkeeper from Columbia, had four saves against Stephen F. Austin last Friday and 11 saves against Arkansas State Sunday.

Dempsey played the first half against Stephen F. Austin and posted a shutout while she was in goal. She also kept Arkansas State scoreless in 20 shots while recording the complete game shutout.

UTM suffered a 5-2 loss to Stephen F. Austin, but posted a 1-0 win over Arkansas State thanks to Dempsey’s effort. Dempsey is the daughter of Bill and Marlene Dempsey of Columbia.

The Skyhawks are 2-1-1 on the year and will host the Skyhawk Invitational today and Sunday.

The Skyhawks will play Southeast Louisiana State at 4:30 p.m. today and Arkansas-Little Rock Sunday.
