Skullbone attracts UTM

Thursday, Sept. 26 is a big night for west Tennessee.

The legend, Willie Nelson, will be performing at Skullbone Music Park. So many people ask 'why does Skullbone even have a music park?' There are many answers to that question including that it has its own music history.

The Grand Ole Opry brought entertainment from Nashville to the hills of west Tennessee. At this event there was reported 10,000 people that crowded in the area to take in the musical shows.

The name Skullbone is said to have come from the bare-knuckle matches held in and around the legendary Skullbone Store.

The Skullbone store has become a famous a tourist attraction alone. It is literally "the downtown" of Skullbone, which is simply one old country store.

In 1999 Mr. Allen Blankenship opened the official Skullbone music park to house many acts. The park opened and quickly became a huge success with such performing acts as Charlie Daniels, 38 Special, Paul Rodgers, Molly Hatchet, KY Headhunters, George Jones, Eddie Money, Lynyrd Skynyrd and now, Willie Nelson.

The park provides many unique things other bigger parks do not offer. The park administrator allows coolers to be brought into the park, and also offers camping opportun-ities.The campsites offer a place for you to stay so you can avoid any late night travel.

The acoustics of the open-air amphitheater in a natural environment gives an incredible music experience. The stage is situated in the trees and hills of the legendary Skullbone. The park now has tree-house skyboxes, just now completed. There seems to be something for everyone at the park for entertainment.

The Skullbone park offer many places to purchase tickets to join in all the entertainment including online at www.skullbonepark.com, toll free 1-877-548-3237, or locally in Martin.
