SGA will support St. Jude in fund raising


SGA convened at 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, and voted to form two teams of seven to support the Up Till Dawn Program. Each member of the team is responsible for raising $100 that will support St. Jude.

On another issue, Dr. Katie High, SGA adviser, said that she wants suggestions on improving the food court. She also said that the contract for campus food, currently held by Sodexho, is up for rebid.

In other business:

•The Procedures Committee announced that UTM’s extensions in Selmer and Jackson could soon be getting representation in SGA.

•Campus Observation said that public safety will be asked to provide someone to monitor the hall congestion in the University Center.

•Minorities Affairs said they will be helping minority groups with Homecoming.

•Academic Affairs is discussing the upcoming high school leadership conference.

•Communications is working on fliers for voter registration and Homecoming.

•A motion by Sen. Matt Goddard to have the homecoming court select their own vehicles was passed.

•Joey Pierce, Elections Chair, stated that Homecoming elections will be done electronically, and all voters are required to have their Skyhawk Card.

•The Senate voted to approve six new organizations on campus. (Campus Crusades for Christ, University of MADD, Asian American Internship Association, Retract, Lambda Rho, and Collegiate NAACP.
