SGA Student Court receives new life sentence

SGA works to make sure that students are represented to the fullest. This representation extends to the judicial side of student government too.

The SGA has a judicial branch that is being fully revised to represent the needs and concerns of the students.

Our role and focus is to help aid concerned students in matters concerning university rules, policies and procedures.

Our judicial branch is made up of a Chief Justice, a panel of student justices, an SGA Attorney General and Student Defender.

We work directly with the Office of Student Affairs and the SGA to help any student seeking our aid to understand the complex and sometimes bewildering rules that govern our daily lives at UTM.

Our staff does this in a number of ways, such as referring and meeting with campus administration pertinent to a student’s concern and helping a student get the matter resolved capably and timely.

The Student Court has the power to hear student disciplinary cases that are referred from the Office of Student Affairs.

In a sense, we are a university sanctioned hearing board for the students who have found themselves on the wrong side of the university rules.
