SGA meets with other student leaders in Tennessee to discuss upcoming plans

The University of Tennessee at Martin was the location of the semi-annual Student Government Association networking conference on February 6, 2004.

The conference is an opportunity for student leaders to discuss important issues and events taking place on each campus.

The conference began with each college giving updates on matters concerning their campus. Some important issues included housing visitation hours in which UT Martin and UT Knoxville will be conducting a student survey to determine what, if any, changes are wanted. Other important issues included the renovation progress of UT Chattanooga’s university center, and the UT Space Institute’s need for a library electronic card catalog system such as the one at UT Martin. Roundtable discussions about significant topics took place throughout the day. Kevin Teets, senator from UT Martin, gave a power point presentation concerning THEC updates.

The presentation included Governor Bredesen’s budget proposal for the upcoming year. Earl Wright, Director of Housing at UT Martin, and Terry Duncan, Housing Coordinator at UT Martin conducted a session regarding plans and developments with the construction of the new residence hall. The conference ended with a reception held at the Chancellor’s residence.
