Second 909 comedy event hypnotizes crowd

Hypnotist Dale K. worked to put a packed Watkins Auditorium under his control

The widely known Dale K entertained a good showing of students last night with his talent of hypnotism.

He was the second act of the 909 Comedy Series. He has performed in front of 50,000 people and has achieved the Campus Performer Artist of the year award.

Dale K's act included several UTM students going under his magical spell and being hypnotized into doing many different and hilarious acts.

He began his session by picking out several eager students wanting to take it seriously and go under his command. After they were chosen, he then had many different techniques in which the students would listen and do what he said by certain words or commands.

Some went into a deeper stage of hypnotism than others, and they seemed to be the ones whom everyone liked the most and also the ones who were picked on most by Dale K.

His different situations for the students included having them believe that their hands were stuck together with crazy glue. Another was one where he had two boys believing that they were pregnant and two nurses believing that they were well-known nurses of America, and that they were there to help the boys have their babies.

This was just a taste of his many comical situations given to the students.

Seeing all the different reactions was such a hilarious thing to watch, since the reactions were vastly different.

One of the funniest parts of the whole show was when Dale K told the students that he would be standing naked in front of them upon saying the word "x-ray."

This not only had the hypnotized students laughing, but also the crowd.

The finale included Dale K telling the hypnotized students that they would not remember anything they did until they exited the room.

One of the hypnotized students, Komteria Herndon, "K.T.," was questioned about the performance, but simply replied, "What performance?"

After exiting the room, she began explaining that she remembered doing the things on stage, but that she didn't know why she was doing them.

The next 909 event, which is sponsored by the Student Activities Council (SAC), will be held Thursday, Nov. 20 in the Watkins Auditorium.

It will feature the comedic stylings of Eric Nieves and Steve Byrne.
