This week with in the world of sports, the ruling preventing young college and high school stars from going right into the NFL was struck down by a federal court after Ohio State standout Maurice Clarett challenged the rule in court.

Many analysts were critical of the court’s move, stating that many athletes that young aren't mature enough to weigh their decisions.

Well, in my opinion, these guys are jealous because they couldn’t come out of high school and make the big bucks like some of the people are looking to do now.

I think that if these kids feel that they can make it in the NFL, more power to them for giving it a try. If they don’t make it, well at least they learned an important lesson on life.

Face the facts, if you had a chance to earn millions coming out of high school, you would do it in a heartbeat. So would I.

Moving on, the Pats did pull off a great win versus the Carolina Panthers in the Superbowl. Got the point spread, but I missed calling the winning team.

I was glad to see that the Patriots won the game outright, instead of having to cheat their way to victory like they had to do versus the Tennessee Titans. Anyone need a heated football, call the Pats, they’re good at it.

New recruit Adam Hansen’s father sent a fax to the school showing his son’s screen saver on the family computer.

It has a picture of UTM quarterback Brady Whalberg and a prayer that basically says he will destroy anyone who tries to get to “his” quarterback.

Talk about dedication, I’m excited about this guy. At least he should hand out a few butt-whoopings (They won’t let me use profanity) as the season progresses.

Moving on. In the wonderful world of UTM sports, it is almost time for the Baseball and Softball teams to hit the field again. I am definitely excited by this due to my love for both sports.

Unfortunately for me, my assistant worships baseball, so the chances of me talking her into letting me cover the games is slim to none. Good luck anyway guys.
