SAACS stays busy with National Chemistry

The UTM SAACS members recently visited Mayor Taylor where he proclaimed October 20-26 "National Chemistry Week." This is an annual event founded in 1987 by the American Chemical Society. The NCW theme is "Chemistry Keeps us Clean."

SAACS has been busy this week with several events planned, including local chemistry demonstrations and a "Come Clean" car wash. SAACS presented a chemistry demonstration at Westview High School, as well as Martin Primary School.

They also hosted the Kentucky Lake Section of the American Chemical Sociey in the Duncan Ballroom where members gathered from Union University, Murray State, Lambuth, and Bethel College to present chemistry presentations.

From 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. at Wal-Mart, you can get your car washed in exchange for cleaning supplies.

Donations will be given to We Care Ministries and other local charities. They will accept any household cleaners and personal hygiene items. SAACS will present a children's program to teach the importance of proper hand-washing.
