Robbery left student feeling vulnerable

Approximately one month ago there was an robbery incident that took place at University Court Apartments. That event left me feeling quite vulnerable to perpetrators.

Well, on Tuesday March 11th, between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., I had two rugs stolen from the laundry room located at University Court Apartments. While doing some Spring cleaning, I decided to wash the rugs in my apartment. One rug was 4x6 area rug, it had pictures of apples on it, and a hunter green border around it. The other rug was a bathroom area rug light lime green in color.

A family emergency arose while my rugs were in the dryer, and I was forced to leave in a hurry. When I returned home, I walked straight to the laundry room to pick up my rugs, but my rugs were not there. I throughly searched the laundry room hoping someone may have placed them somewhere else.

Well, needless to say, I felt invaded, and again very vulnerable.

Do people not possess morals, or ethics? I don't understand how someone could knowingly take something that doesn't belong to them.

Yes the rugs did have quality, and meaning to me. I liked my rugs, they were pretty to me, and like most people I struggle to acquire belongings. I don't have a lot of money, so it will be very difficult for me to replace them.

But what really has me distraught, is the realization that both my children, and myself could be victims of crime at any unexpected time. It reminds me that there are people in the world that haven't a conscience, morals, ethics, or dignity, and they can impose on anyone at anytime they choose. This really scares me!

In time I'm sure the rugs can be replaced, but this sick feeling in the pit of my stomach will be there for a long time to come.

And this feeling of vulnerability will surely never leave.

I guess the final message of this article is to practice good ethics, and morals, and do unto others as you would have others do unto you.
