Rhenburg wins Beth Malone award

Elizabeth Rhenberg, of Union City, recently received the Beth Maloan Outstanding Student Employee Award at the University of Tennessee at Martin.

The award is given to one student every fall and spring semester in memory of Beth Maloan, former UTM director of budgeting and payroll, who was a strong advocate for student employment. Rhenberg, a junior geoscience major with a concentration in geology, has worked in the UTM department of geology, geography and physics for more than two years.

She was the 2001 recipient of the William T. McCutchen Geology Award at UT Martin; in addition, she was instrumental last April in the department of geology, geography and physics winning the prestigious Rock Bowl competition for the first time in 14 years. Above, Rhenberg receives a $150 cash award and a plaque from Student Government Association President Eric Tolbert, of Rossville.
