A reception to honor Valli Kugler, the reigning Miss Tennessee, will be held 4-6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 22, in Room 206 of UC.

Kugler, a senior fashion merchandising major from Rutherford, Tenn., claimed the Miss Tennessee crown June 30 in Jackson. She competed as Miss UTM using as her platform “Gaining Understanding and Insight of Learning Disabilities.”

The 22-year-old Kugler now goes on to compete in the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City this September. If she does not win the Miss America crown, she will serve as the spokesperson for a Safe and Drug Free Tennessee as Miss Tennessee.
