Real romance, not sex, found in The Prince and Me

*** out of 5

"The Prince and Me" is a movie about a senior in college (Julia Stiles) who is working hard at both school and a job when the prince of Denmark (Luke Mably) walks into her life. The only catch is she doesn’t know he is a prince and he must win her with his looks and charm (which he has plenty of).

This movie is good in that it believes in true romance. Many movies today are sarcastic towards love, and the characters end up just having a lot of sex. This is something this movie does not have to do to show the character’s relationship.

This movie maintains a PG rating and a PG storyline. It is very accurate of its depiction of rural America and Europe with the small town in which Stiles character is from bringing a lot of the laughs.

The negative part is that the ending is just weird. The movie reaches a certain point where it should have just ended or been given another twenty minutes to explain what is going on.

You do not walk out of the theater depressed or excited for them or your own experience (or lack of) at love. You’ll find yourself asking the question, “What?”

"The Prince and Me" is out in theaters now.
