‘Pike Fights’ benefits greenway

The brothers of Pi Kappa Alpha presented the 15th Annual Pike Fights April 2, 2004 at the UTM fieldhouse.

Men representing the fraternities of Alpha Gamma Rho, Alpha Tau Omega, Sigma Alpha Espilon, Kappa Alpha Order, and Pi Kappa Alpha compted in boxing matches with each winner presented with a trophy.

The event raised $7,000 in efforts to help give last minutes funds to the “Brian Brown Memorial Greenway.”

A proclamation was given to Pi Kappa Alpha by the City of Martin for their work in raising funds.

Brian Brown was killed in 2000 while riding his bicycle near where the Greenway will be located.

Gov. Phil Bredesen also recently presented the City of Martin with $310,000 for work on the Greenway.

A ceremony presenting the check from Pi Kappa Alpha to the Greenway will be made some time next week at the Pike House, located at 220 Hannings Ln.
