Pike, AOPi take All-Sing

Childhood favorite songs from every Disney film could be heard from the Skyhawk Fieldhouse last Saturday as the 43rd Annual All-Sing 2004 competition took place.

Alpha Phi Omega chose the Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center of Weakley and Obion counties as the recipient of this year’s proceeds.

Prevention of child abuse is the main focus of the Carl Perkins Center. It has been aiding families since 1979, but only came to Weakley and Obion counties last fall.

Making their first appearance in several years wearing black tuxedos and deep purple vests, the brothers of Pi Kappa Alpha started the show off with their Aladdin theme. Performing "Arabian Nights," "A Whole New World" and "Prince Ali," the Pikes showed off their talent.

Sigma Phi Epsilon was next in the fraternity division to show what they had to offer.

They chose to perform songs from the very popular "The Lion King." "Circle of Life," "Hukuna Matata" and "Can You Feel The Love Tonight?" were crowd favorites. The men came together in their black tuxedos and multi-colored vests.

Sisters of Chi Omega were first on stage in the sorority division. Songs such as "It’s A Small World," "A Spoon Full of Sugar" and "The Mickey Mouse Club" accompanied their 50s-style skirts and tops. Mickey Mouse ears completed the Chi O look.

The ladies of Zeta Tau Alpha were the princesses of Disney in strapless blue ballgowns and crowns. They performed a variety of songs from Disney’s female royalty. Their show included "So This Is Love," "Kiss the Girl" and "Part of Your World."

“Remember the Titans” was the theme of Alpha Delta Pi’s show. Dressed in white and red football jerseys, they performed " Ain’t No Mountain High Enough" and "Spirit In The Sky." Their energetic performance was very entertaining. The competition ended with Alpha Omicron Pi’s performance.

AOPi performed selections from Disney favorites such as I Got No Strings, Under the Sea, You’ll Be In My Heart and You Ain’t Never Had a Friend Like Me.

Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Katie High presented two UTM students with the Beth Malone Student Employee of the Year. Candace Hastings and Shawn Carver were this year’s recipients.

The Carl Perkins Center was presented a check for $3,100 at the end of the show.

The Fraternity division winners were Pi Kappa Alpha. Second place went to Sig Ep.

The sorority division winners were Alpha Omicron Pi. Coming in with a second place finish was Chi Omega.

Best of Show was presented to the brothers of Pi Kappa Alpha.
