Pacer is ‘trivializing’ the issue of interracial dating

Last week The Pacer asked, “is it really appropriate to criticize someone who is in an interracial relationship?”

No! It’s not appropriate, and it never has been.

I can’t even see why The Pacer would waste its time to point out something as blatantly obvious as the stupidity of racism. Is interracial dating an issue?

Only if you’re an ignorant bigot; however, to the rest of the civilized world it is completely normal.

Don’t get me wrong, I know racism exists, especially here in West TN. But putting an article in the Pacer in order to invite people to share their views on interracial dating isn’t helping anything.

I say that for two reasons:

  1. Only a complete moron is going to write to the paper and publicly take a position against interracial dating, and 2) inviting people to write in and say how bad racism is.

This is what The Pacer seems to be doing and it does little more that trivialize a real issue by putting it in terms of interracial dating, which only racists are against.

If you want a real debate, ask people what they think of affirmative action.
