J.C. Howe, a 6-6, forward from Roy, Utah, was named the Ohio Valley Conference's Newcomer of the Week. Howe scored 21 points in the Skyhawks' setback to Morehead State.

He hit eight of 11 shots from the field and was five-of-six from three-point range. He also had six rebounds. In the Skyhawks' win over Eastern Kentucky this past Saturday, Howe netted 20 points.

He finished the two-game road trip to Morehead and Eastern Kentucky hitting seven of nine three pointers. The OVC selects a Player of the Week, a Rookie of the Week and a Newcomer of the Week. The league honors are announced every Monday during the season
