Open forums scheduled for food service contenders

Exactly how would you like your hamburgers to be fried? This is the question that UTM will be asking students and community members March 17-18 in open forums discussing the two bidders for UTM’s food service contract.

Sodexho, UTM’s current food service provider, and Aramark are scheduled to give presentations and field questions from students as to what they have to offer.

“This is a very important decision for the campus, and your attend ance and input at the presentation would be much appreciated,” said SGA Campus Observation Chair Brian Davis.

The presentations begin on Monday, March 17 at 3 p.m. with Sodexho in UC Room 230AB. Aramark will present on Tuesday, March 18 at 3 p.m. in UC Room 229.

A committee of faculty, staff and students has interviewed food service vendors throughout the past year. Student members on the committee are Davis and Joey Pierce from SGA’s Campus Observation Committee and Beau Pemberton and Lisa Owens from the Residence Hall Association.

Students are encouraged to use this opportunity to ask questions and give input on the vendors that are presenting.

The vendor chosen by the committee will have control over all campus food services.

Sodexho currently controls the cafeteria, food court, JW's Market, Café a la Carte and Sodexho Catering.
