New security patch issued for virus


Computer Services issued an e-mail to campus regarding a new Microsoft security patch users of Windows NT, 2000, or XP are strongly urged to download, and forwarded Microsoft’s suggestions for strengthening computers against virus and worm attacks.

Microsoft urges XP users to enable their Internet Connection Firewall in their advanced connection properties. They also encourage all users to stay up to date and not ignore automatic-update prompts, and to use and keep current anti-virus software.

Instructions for downloading the recommended patch:

  2. Scroll down and find your operating system in the Patch Availability list.

  3. Follow the instructions to download and open/run the patch (KB824146).
