Memphis band, Ingram Hill, set to play UTM

One of Tennessee’s own rising young rock bands, Ingram Hill, will be performing a free concert on Monday at UTM’s Back to School Fair.

Based out of the city of rhythm and blues (Memphis), the band has just released its second album entitled Until Now, which currently sits at number five on retail charts in Memphis.

“Our music is more on the happier side,” said lead singer Justin Moore, “we’re going back to what was in awhile back – happier and more blues.”

Growing up on classic rock, new wave, as well as country (both classic and new), the members of Ingram Hill offer up a feel-good amalgam of these popular styles and more while rocking on stage.

“We like to go out and have fun while performing,” said Moore.

Their influence can be heard on Until Now’s lead track, Will I Ever Make it Home, which hints toward an album of changing tempos and tones by starting off with vocals and acoustic guitar before knocking the would-be ballad on its rear as the band tears into full rock mode.

“Some of our musical influences include the Black Crows and Tonic,” said Moore.

Tonic’s Emerson Hart produced five of the eight tracks on Until Now. In addition to playing cover songs, Ingram Hill also writes and plays their own music.

“My favorite track on the second album is Chicago,” says Moore, “it is one of the few that I wrote the lyrics to before I did the music.”

Ingram Hill has been touring this summer promoting Until Now with various artists and bands, from B.B. King to Sister Hazel.

“Our summer tour has been great so far,” said Moore, “we played some killer gigs... Better than Ezra, Sister Hazel, Memphis in May, Nashville’s Dancing in the District. My favorite gig was with Sister Hazel in Chicago at the House of Blues.”

What can you expect from a concert by Ingram Hill? Moore said it best when he replied, “A good and fun rock ‘n’ roll show.Get ready to move around and have a good time.”

Ingram Hill consists of singer/guitarist Justin Moore, lead guitarist Phil Bogard, bassist Shea Sowell and drummer Matt Chambless.

“We don't know what to expect from UTM,” said Moore, “we're hoping that everyone will come out ready to have a good time. We'll see when we get there...”
