Martin area under weather advisories


The national weather service has placed a Tornado Watch on Weakley, Carroll, Crockett, Dyer, Gibson, Henry and Lake counties until 9 p.m., Nov. 10, 2002.

This comes after a night that saw storms ravage through parts of west and middle Tennessee. Three people were killed in Montgomery County early Sunday morning.

With the warm weather, windy conditions and reported hail storms; the conditions are favorable for tornadoes.

Tornado sirens are located throughout Martin with one on top of the University Center and another on Lindell Street. If you hear the sirens, immediately seek cover.

Going to the lower floor of the building and taking cover in a small area, such as a closet or a bathroom is the best way to go. Thr basements of the residence halls are also good places to take refuge.
