Make-A-Wish catches $1,000

The first Chi Omega Softball Tournament was held on Saturday, March 27, at the Harrison Road Sports Complex. Nine teams came to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a non-profit organization that helps children and their families who have life-threatening illnesses. This organization is Chi Omega’s national philanthropy.

The double-elimination tournament included a full schedule of games that lasted all day. Phi Sigma Kappa, Alpha Tau Omega, Pi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Estes Lawn Care, Alpha Gamma Rho, Good Ole Boys, West Ten, and Scrap Ducks entered teams. In the end, the Good Ole Boys of Brownsville went undefeated to win the Championship. West Ten of Martin came in second place and the Brownsville Scrap Ducks finished with a close third.

The beautiful weather allowed the games to be played without any trouble. Everyone in attendance was encouraged to register for door prizes provided by area businesses. The sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha provided their services with the concession stand.

“We are excited about the new tradition of hosting the softball tournament. It was received with a great response. The Make-A-Wish Foundation is very deserving of this money,” said Elizabeth Hinds, Chi Omega President. Chi Omega was able to present a $1,000 check to the Make-A-Foundation.
