Lots of donors needed for Lifeline blood drive

Consider the following:

• Everyone has seen signs displayed in store windows advertising the need for potential employees for those businesses.

• Fraternities and sororities go to great lengths to persuade potential members of the need to join their organizations.

• Universities allocate large portions of their budgets to portray to high school graduates the need to attend their colleges.

Lifeline Blood Services has something in common with these three examples – Lifeline needs your help to provide a safe, adequate blood supply for West Tennessee. Because of the short shelf-life of blood, 46 days, donors are always needed. If you donated blood during the last blood drive, your donation has already been used or discarded.

As a result, the Lifeline Bloodmobile will be at UTM from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday, April 6-7, in front of the UC.

A “wild west” theme is being used for the drive, and donors will receive a free T-shirt. As a bonus, the first 200 donors will receive free tickets to the 36th Annual UTM Intercollegiate Rodeo, set for April 15-17.

“It takes a dedicated effort by thousands of West Tennesseans every year to keep area hospitals with a fresh supply of blood, and the students at UTM are an important part of that process,” said Tammy Hurst, Weakley County recruiter for Lifeline. “It takes less than an hour of your time, and it means a lifetime to someone else.”
