Local leaders, entrepreneurs to speak at UTM

Have you ever wondered what makes an entrepreneur successful?

Perhaps you have asked yourself at some point, “I wonder how a business is started?” or you might have even mused to yourself while standing in a marketplace, “I wonder what keeps these businesses & individuals going day after day with such success?”

Entrepreneur Day at UT-Martin is fast approaching with some answers to these and other questions. A semi-annual event presented by the UTM chapter of Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) and sponsored by the Hendrix Chair in Free Enterprise, and the Oldham Center for Entrepreneurship, this event was designed to expose students to entrepreneurs that have garnered real life successes and failures through their efforts as both entrepreneurs and leaders in their respective careers.

While many think that entrepreneurship is strictly a business matter, the planned speakers for this event include local entrepreneurs and leaders that come from all different occupations and locations. Hilary Capps of Expressions Hair Studio will lead off the day’s seminars at 9:30. The newly appointed football coach of the UTM Skyhawks, Matt Griffin, will speak to those in attendance at 11 o’clock.

The second half of the day’s events will include two more engaging and intriguing entrepreneurs, Jack Reese of Reese Financial Group will speak at 1 p.m. and Dotty Summerfield Giusti of Summerfield Associates, Inc. will conclude the seminars with her presentation at 2:30. This event, complete with all of these talented leaders and their words of valuable experience, is completely FREE; however, registration is required for the speakers that you would like to attend.

Registration forms can be obtained and turned in to Rm. 109, Business Administration Building and registration will continue until February 7, 2003. This looks to be another interesting and dynamic Entrepreneur Day that will help expose and educate the UTM population to successful entrepreneurs.

Come on out and you never know, you might learn something new that could help you later in life.
