Library media services provides new scanning service

The Media Services Department is offering a new scanning service for students needing jpg. picture files for class presentations.

The new scanning service has been available since Fall 02’, and is free for all UTM students.

This new service is designed to help students incorporate personal pictures, pictures from magazines or books and pictures that cannot be downloaded from the web into their Powerpoint presentations.

“I am happy to attend a university like UTM because as a student I really benefit from the various services that are offered,” said junior Business Administration major, Bryan Carson.

Students are required to take a 100 or 250 MB ( PC-platform) zipdisk and the picture needed for the presentation to the Media Service Department located in room 121 in the Paul Meek Library. Blank disks are not available in the Media Service Department, but can be purchased at the Bookstore or Computer Store in the University Center.

Robert McCluskey, the photography assistant, will scan the picture into jpg. files and transfer them on the student’s zipdisk to use during their presentation. “This service offers a lot for students because now they don’t have to deal with the hassle of finding pictures that will download. We can scan the pictures for them, and it’s free,” said McCluskey.
