Letter to the Editor: Wanted: lights around walking track

Dear Editor:

UTM should put some lights around the outside walking track.

The lights would not have to go all the way around the walking track because the street lights are able to provide light in some areas. Some lights just need to be placed in the dark areas of the walking track.

I believe that UTM should manage a better relationship with the community and watch out for the safety of the students.

This would cut down on the liability of students being attacked if they decided to walk outside on the track.

I know for a fact that some of the community uses the outside walking track at night. I just wonder what would happen if someone was injured while walking the track after dark.

The university needs to take more of a leadership role and give back to the community as well as to the students.
